LUCAS Piazon has set his sights on forcing his way into Steve Clarke’s first XI after an impressive display against Everton.

The midfielder joined the club at the end of the transfer window on a season-long loan from Chelsea but has had to bide his time so far.

Playing time has been limited in the three league games since arriving but he was handed his full debut on Tuesday evening and took his opportunity.

Piazon was described as a “bundle of energy” by Clarke following the game and his performance excited every Reading fan.

The 21-year-old is now looking forward to the trip to Burnley and says he wants to force his way into the first team ahead of the clash.

He explained: “As a young player you always want to be playing, so as many games as I can get here I’ll be happy.

“I want to score  goals and make assists but first I need to be playing every game so that’s the aim.
The Championship is tough. The players are strong and it’s a battle but it’s good, I’m enjoying it and we’ve won a few since I’ve arrived so it’s good.

“I know Burnley were in the Premier League last season so it’ll be a tough game for us and a good challenge.

“After the way we played against Everton we can go there and win so we should look for all three points.”
Piazon is a wise head on young shoulders and already boasts a wealth of experience, having played in five countries already at the age of 21.

He spent last season in the Bundesliga with Eintracht Frankfurt but says he’s happy to have stayed in England this season.

The loanee lives in London and for the first time in a few years he can remain there while plying his trade, something he admits was a big factor in his decision to choose Reading over several other clubs that were chasing his signature.

“To be the first Brazilian to play for Reading is good and it’s a pleasure to be here. I hope I can make an impact on the team and do a good job.

“I came on the last day of the transfer window so it’s hard to get in the team but maybe in the future I’ll get a place in the team.

“I think I’ve been moving too much in the last few years so we chose to stay closer to London this time and closer to the club, (Chelsea) so we’ll see how it goes.”
