BINFIELD CC bounced back to winning ways in Division One with a comprehensive 124-run home thrashing of basement boys Great Kingshill.

Captain Sean Ennis won the toss and chose to bat, but his side suffered an early double early blow as Paul Edgington and Adam Marshall fell to Nick Hallatt to leave the hosts 26-2.

However, Ennis (55) and Eddie Lee (33) rebuilt the innings and took the score to 97 before the former was stumped by Luke Symons off the bowling of Martin Smith.

Lee was bowled by John Bartlett to make it 109-4, but Mike Allan-Canty (50no) and Matt Hayman (31) provided useful contributions as the home side closed their innings on 232-7. Hallatt ended as the pick of the attack with 4-60 from 15 overs.

Binfield opened with the old ball and attempted to build pressure through Jack Collett and Lee (2-23), and it was the latter who made the breakthrough when he had Hallatt caught by Allan-Canty.

Symons fell to the same bowler to make it 42-2, and the middle order was then blown away by Hayman (3-24) and Edgington (3-41) as Kingshill collapsed to 101-8.

The tail failed to wag at all as Collett (2-14) returned to tidy up, the visitors eventually bowled out for just 108.

Binfield sit fourth in the table, 39 points behind leaders Littlewick Green, and host another struggling struggling side, White Waltham, this Saturday afternoon (12.30pm).

Matt Humphrey scored a brilliant unbeaten century as Binfield 2nds had the better of a draw at Division Two table-toppers Coleshill.

Paris Khanna (48) gave the visitors a solid start, but it was Humphrey (107no) who took centre stage with a fabulous innings.

He received little support, however, with only three Binfield batsman making it into double figures in their total of 221-9.

Coleshill made a solid start to their innings and appeared on track for another victory, but excellent bowling from Tony Boad (3-60 off 15 overs), Ian Goddard (2-41) and Neil Jones (2-47) caused collapses in the middle and lower orders, with Coleshill eventually reaching 208-9 at the end of their innings.
