CROWTHORNE & Crown Wood took a massive step towards a maiden title as they secured a three-wicket away win in a tense clash at nearest rivals Sulhamstead.

The hosts made a poor start after choosing to bat, Crows stand-in captain Jeff Cluett (3-20) removing Steve Belcher and Marc Thompson early on.

Wickets continued to tumble throughout the innings as Sully slipped to 108-8, but the experienced Ian Williams (29 off 20 balls) counter-attacked to help his side to 152.

Crowthorne made a fine start to their chase as Richard Barron (48) and Mohammed Izzadeen shared 67 until the latter was bowled by Williams.

A stunning burst from Doug Macdonald (4-25) put the game back in the balance as the visitors slumped to 106-6, but a superb 38 not out from Mohammed Careen steered the Crows over the line as they moved well clear at the top.

Peppard Stoke Row stayed in third place after another Dan Hayden masterclass inspired his side to an 88-run win at Ruislip Victoria.

PSR lost Andy Watts to the first ball of the match, but Hayden’s outstanding 89 from just 81 balls took the visitors to 219-9.

Watts (4-20) enjoyed greater success with the ball in reply, and with Dion Sampson (3-19) and Roy Hayden (2-22) also among the wickets, the Middlesex-based hosts were knocked over for 131.

West Reading kept their title dreams alive with a comfortable 53-run success at struggling Mortimer West End.

The prolific Adam Davidson (83) and Taskeen Ahmed (50) put on 129 for the first wicket for Wests, and despite Hugh Patrick’s (5-60) best efforts, the visitors totalled 261-5.

Bob Hodson (42) and Andy Johnson (30) ensured West End secured maximum batting points, but they were eventually bowled out for 208, Sultan Khan (3-27) the pick of the bowlers.

Captain Paul Knox put in a man-of-the-match performance to enhance Woodcote’s survival hopes following a three-wicket success at Woodley.

Knox (3-25) starred with the ball as Woodley were restricted to 172-7, Adnan Riaz (50) top scoring.
A fabulous burst from Kashif Ali (5-42) had Cote staring down the barrel of another defeat at 113-7, but Knox (74no) and Andy Silver shared an unbroken stand of 62 to grab victory.

BCS Grosvenor thumped rock-bottom Sandhurst by 82 runs to bolster their hopes of remaining in the top flight.

Usman Asif (68) top scored as BCS made 201-9, before Zubair Khan (3-20) and Shoaib Nasir (3-22) skittled the Camels for  just 119.

Division One

TABLE-TOPPERS Emmbrook & Bearwood suffered a first defeat of the season as they crashed to a shock 138-run reverse at West Reading 2nds.

Yaunas Khan (100) and Arif Hussain (77) led the way as Wests posted a hefty 263, while Tom Stevenson (5-42) impressed with the ball for Emmbrook.

The visitors suffered a disastrous start and never recovered, with Mohammed Asif (4-14) and Aamar Raja (4-35) starring as Emmbrook were routed for 125.

Checkendon kept up their promotion bid with a four-wicket win at Peppard Stoke Row 2nds.

Varun Kaushal (4-12) was the chief destroyer as PSR were bowled out for 112, and Checkendon appeared in cruise control as John Acland-Hood (33) and Manpreet Singh put on 84 for the first wicket in reply.

Chris Proudfoot (3-25) and Ian Jackson (3-27) caused some alarm for the visitors, but they eventually got over the line.

Owyn Tong-Jones (76) and Olly Carrier (69) were in form for Goring-on-Thames as they secured the better of a draw at struggling Bradfield.

The visitors reached a competitive 268-5, but they were unable to bowl their opponents out as Bradfield closed on 142-7.

Ibis Mapledurham also earned a winning draw at home to Welford Park.

Dave Drury (74no) top scored and received good support from Matt Jones (53) and Errol Masters (43) as Ibis totalled 231-4.

John Westbrook (33) gave Welford early impetus and Aseem Sharma (48) was also in form with the bat, but Lewis Hart (3-38) and Chris Webber (2-56) ensured Park could only reach 173-5.

Division Two

LEADERS Hawley CC cruised to a 10-wicket success at Mortimer West End 2nds.

Tejas Bane (41) and John Gott (40) were among the runs as MWE reached an under-par 146-8, Gavin Sinclair (2-19), Tom Cappleman-Lynes (2-18) and Mike Hartley (2-28) all bowling well.

Cappleman-Lynes (98no) then followed up a man-of-the-match display with a sublime knock, and Carl Delaney’s 45 not out ensured Hawley raced to victory in just 22 overs.

Second-placed Farley Hill slipped to a shock four-wicket defeat at Crowthorne & Crown Wood 2nds.

Nick Timms (62) and Johan Vorster (37) impressed with the bat for Hill, but Kieran Golding (5-22) and Nirav Upadhyay (3-47) helped Crows bowl the visitors out for 172.

In reply, Doug Charman (47) and Dan Cartledge (44) steadied the ship after the Crows had fallen to 64-4, and although they were both dismissed before the end, their side got home with plenty of time to spare.

Sandhurst 2nds edged to a two-wicket win at home to BCS Grosvenor 2nds.

Babar Butt (42) top scored as the visitors were dismissed for 144, while Simon Coxwell took 4-28 for Sandhurst.

Andrew Tutty (39) put the Camels in a good position, and although Mohammed Farooq (3-24) struck back, the home side secured the spoils.

A match-winning spell from Tom Clay helped Stratfield Turgis 2nds beat Sulhamstead 2nds by 50 runs.

Nabeel Mughal (4-24) was the pick of the Sully attack as Stratfield were bowled out for 175, but Clay (5-34) helped skittle the visitors for just 125.

Earley scraped to a two-wicket win in a low-scoring thriller at home to Shinfield.

Oliver Sankey (51) and Ankush Ghandi (47) received little support as the visitors were shot out for 130 thanks to fine bowling from Charlie Johnson (5-13) and Prasad Gore (4-33).

And Rob Casey’s 59 proved vital as Earley squeezed home despite Sudhir Nair’s 3-9.

Division Three

WARFIELD CC bounced back to winning ways with a five-wicket success at home to Knowl Hill.

Ashley Gander (4-24) and Riyas Rajab (3-28) impressed with the ball for the leaders as Knowl Hill were dismissed for 149, and Giri Ganesh (53) then led Warfield to victory.

Twyford & Ruscombe pulled off a sensational run chase to beat high-flying Waltham St Lawrence by one wicket in an epic tussle.

Andy Jackson (130) and Andrew Hartland (41) led the way as the Saints made an imposing 270-5.

However, opener Angus Weir blasted 86 from just 71 balls to set the tone, and useful contributions throughout the order allowed Twyford to get home with just one ball to spare.

Mark Van Nieuwenhuzen took 5-26 as Emmbrook & Bearwood 2nds bowled Woodley 2nds out for 113, before Aneel Sabir’s unbeaten 42 led his side to an eight-wicket stroll.

Opening bowler Louis Mortimer took a staggering 7-17 as Sulhamstead 3rds were routed for 119, and Will Knight (55) then helped Falkland Development to a resounding seven-wicket success.

Tejpal Singh hammered 83 from just 53 balls to take Purley-on-Thames 3rds to 201, and Harry Bell’s 5-30 ensured that proved 127 too many for Welford Park 2nds.

Division Four

PAUL Bailey (69) and Neil Booth (65) guided Ruislip Victoria 2nds to a winning draw at Peppard Stoke Row 3rds.
Rob Dyer took 3-43 as RV made 263-7, but PSR fought bravely to 200-5, Under 14 Nick Evans top scoring with 38.
Basement boys Emmbrook & Bearwood 3rds put in an excellent performance as they had the better of a draw at home to Bradfield 2nds.
Mark Lazenbury (75no) top scored as Emmbrook totalled 189-7, and they then restricted the visitors to 135-8 in reply.
Zeeshan Malik (104) and Jake Thacker (100no) guided Hawley 2nds to a colossal 303-5 in their draw against West Reading 3rds, with the hosts ending on 189-8 in reply.
Waltham St Lawrence 2nds forfeited their game at Crowthorne & Crown Wood 3rds.
