The club, which celebrates its 150th anniversary this year, got off to a positive start through openers James Collett and Adam Marshall.

The former was dismissed for 23 but Marshall was in superb form and went on to enjoy crucial partnerships with Mike Staves (27), Paul Edington (18), and skipper Sean Ennis (23).

Marshall was finally caught off the bowling of Kirk Graham for a brilliant 88.

Further cameos from Matt Humphrey (22) and Adam Carson (16) helped Binfield post an imposing 234-7 from 52 overs.

Chris Symmonds (3-69) and Graham (2-62) were the pick of the Littlewick bowlers.

The visitors’ reply got off to a poor start as Matt Hayman removed Littlewick opener Peter Dries for four before Staves claimed another wicket.

Richard Brewin put up a fight at the top of the order before being dismissed leg before off Barney Sykes’ bowling for 49.

There was a flurry of runs from the middle order as Graham (39) and Yasir Khan (27) put up plenty of resistence.

But when both were eventually removed by Staves and Hayman respectively, the Littlewick tail was knocked over cheaply and they were dismissed for 190 in the 45th over.

Staves led the Binfield attack with 4-31 and he received plenty of support from Hayman (3-50) and Sykes (3-45).

Binfield hope to continue their winning start this Saturday when they travel to Penn & Tylers Green.
