PINEWOOD Judo Club maintained their record of always having a champion at the British National Championships after Cameron Charles won gold in Sheffield.

Ever since the championships were first held in 1968, Pinewood have had a winner, and Charles kept their record intact at the English Institute of Sport.

Fighting in the pre-cadets section, Charles won gold with some excellent judo in the under 55kgs weight group.

In the cadet section, Holly Eccles and Olivia Spellman also claimed medals as they won bronzes at under 44kgs and under 57kgs respectively.

The second half of the tournament takes place this weekend when the under 21s and youth and senior sections will be fighting.
