WOKINGHAM & Emmbrook manager Roger Herridge has called on the Hellenic League to 'see sense' and scrap the Supplementary Cup.

Like the majority of teams across the divisions, Sumas have had their schedule disrupted in recent months by the weather.

They have played just two league games since December 8 and still have 17 matches to complete in the Hellenic Premier Division before mid-April.

In addition, Wokingham are still involved in the Berks & Bucks Senior Trophy, the Reading Senior Cup and the Supplementary Cup - often dubbed the 'losers cup' as teams enter it when they exit the Challenge Cup in the preliminary or first round.

Of the three, there is little doubt which competition Herridge would like to see sacrificed first.

"I would be very disappointed if the league did not decide to scrap the Supplementary Cup," he told the News. "It is the last thing we want to be worrying about when we have league fixtures and other cups to play, it's a mickey mouse competition."

"It just seems pointless. I am sure the fixture secretary has his hands full at the moment but we have 19 games left, minimum, without the Supplementary Cup, and we are already in February. We have to be sensible."
