THE prospect of Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool returning to the Madejski Stadium in August is mouth- watering.

Potentially three games separate the Royals from English football's elite and everyone in the town, newcomer or born-and-bred [Swindon fans excluded], should unite behind them, knowing success will again put Reading on the sporting map and have the place buzzing with excitement.

With the Premiership's foreign investors and business consortia seeing their 'love' for the Beautiful Game rightly greeted with doubt and suspicion, the addition of Reading, owned by a respected businessman with a lifelong connection to the town, would be refreshing.

A return to the top flight would provide a welcome financial boost for the local economy and could even help our bid to become a city but, above all, it will be a deserved reward for the individuals and families who have stuck by the club for generations. Good luck lads!
