Four people were taken to hospital after the targeted attack and treated for knife wounds after six black men clad in balaclavas entered the Peach Street property at 8pm.
Three men aged 29, 22 and 23 and a 20-year-old woman, were taken to hospital for treatment but are not in a life-threatening condition.
Police are now appealing for information after the attack and want to speak to a white woman and black man who were seen nearby in a light blue Ford Focus at the time of the incident who may be able to assist the investigation.
Det Sgt Carl Bradford, from Reading Force CID, said: “This was a frightening incident for those involved and was understandably concerning for the surrounding residents. I would like to reassure the community this is not believed to be a random attack and it is believed the victims were targeted by the offenders.
“The victims are recovering in hospital and I would like to reassure everyone that officers are working to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident and to locate the offenders.
Officers are in the area today conducting enquiries and anyone with any concerns or any information should speak to them or call 101.
