The outage was caused by a large number of birds striking a power line near Twyford Road.
Nearly everyone impacted by the bird strike has had power restored but 12 homes nearest the cable will remain without power until approximately 6.00pm to enable engineers to carry out repairs.
At the peak of disruption 1,813 homes were left without electricity.
A spokesman for Southern Electric apologised for the disruption.
