Between 11.30pm on Friday ([Nov 7] and 12.30am yesterday [Nov 8] the victim, a 35-year-old man, sustained serious injuries between Elm Road and Sharonelle Court, Station Road.
He was taken to hospital with injuries consistent with stab wounds and remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The offender was believed to be a white man however no further description is currently available.
Det Sgt Carl Bradford, from Berkshire Force CID, said: “Detectives are investigating the circumstances of the incident and currently have limited information so we would like to appeal to anyone who saw what happened or has any information which could assist with the investigation.
“If you have any details which could help police please call the 24-hour enquiry centre on 101.”
