Billed as the ‘world’s biggest drawing festival’ it proved to be very popular event at the Holme Grange School, Heathlands Road, Wokingham.

Administration assistant Paul Keats said the parents and staffers were surprised at their own creativity and described the event as ‘very therapeutic’ for all concerned.

Afterwards everybody admired results of their work at an exhibition in the art room.

Senior pupils created ducks, chickens and doves and leaves, while juniors made decorated elephants along the ‘Elmer’ theme, as described in author David McKee’s book.

Year Eight spent the lesson teaching younger pupils to make coloured hand prints and turn them into elephants.

Mr Keats said children particularly liked the bright and colourful cut artwork inspired by Matisse.
