PUPILS proved life was sweet after winning a mini masterchef competition hosted by a celebrity chef.

Sacha Plume and Gemma Harling with celebrity chef Paul Rankin. The pair both won gold medals on Friday at the Sunday Times Festival of Education.

Gold medals were awarded to Gemma Harling and Sacha Plume, both pupils at Holme Grange School in Wokingham, after coming up trumps in the Sodexo Mini Masterchef competition.

Held as part of the Sunday Times Festival of Education, at Wellington College in Crowthorne, celebrity chef Paul Rankin was on hand to sample the sweet treats.

Both girls scored marks of more than 95% for their cupcake entries, and were presented with their medals by Mr Rankin, with Gemma going on to clinch ‘best in show’ for her effort.

Paul Rankin commented that he was “blown away” by the girls’ amazing presentation and creativity and said: “The cupcakes tasted fantastic.”

Their headteacher, Claire Robinson, was also present at the ceremony, held on Friday, and said she was absolutely delighted with the results.
