A TEAM of keen cyclists will pedal their way to earn cash for charity in a mammoth challenge later this month.
A group of 16 leisure centre workers from Wokingham will cycle 112 miles from Hampton Court to Boscombe seafront on Saturday, April 26.
The riders will be split up into two groups of eight, with both groups expected to take eight hours to cross the finish line. They are hoping to raise more than £2,500 for WheelPower, a national charity that supports wheelchair-based sports and organises a number of regional, national and international competitions.
Tony Penge – contract manager for the council’s three leisure centres, St Crispin’s, Carnival Pool and Loddon Valley – said: “We are all really excited for the cycling challenge.
“WheelPower does amazing work for disabled people who want to get involved in sport and we are proud to be supporting them.
“The ride will be very hard but I’m sure we’ll enjoy it, especially when we find how much money we have raised. We have set a target of £2,500 but I am confident we can beat that!” To sponsor the team, visit www.justgiving.com/TonysCycle
