The fair, themed 'Where did you get that hat?’ was held at St Paul’s Parish Rooms, Reading Road, Wokingham, on Saturday, November 16.

Hundreds of people turned out for the Christmas stalls at the annual church fundraiser, selling cards, decorations and festive gifts, as well as bric-a-brac and books.

Jane Clark, from the parish of St Paul’s, said: “It was really good fun, it was well attended and we had people wearing lots of extreme hats!

“We raised well over £1,000 as well, which is brilliant.”

People sported their headgear of choice, with admirals hat, party hats, paper hats and more extravagant ones made from chiffon even making an appearance.

The clergy had their own stall selling bottles of wine, which sold out by the end of the day.

There was also a tombola with prizes including a luxury hamper and a wine hamper.

After the hard day’s shopping, everyone sat down to enjoy an afternoon tea of baked potatoes and chilli, which attracted old and young alike.

Ms Clark added: “Lots of people from the community, who might not usually come to church were there which was really nice.

“I think the older members of the community really appreciated it, as they all got to sit down and enjoy lunch together.”
