Wokingham and Crowthorne dancing stars gear up for "Got to Dance" semi-finals

A DANCE teacher is "very proud" of six students who have reached the semi-finals of one of Britain's biggest TV dancing shows.
Jayne Coleman, who runs the Jayne A Coleman Academy of Dance, in Old Wokingham Road, Wokingham, said it was "fantastic" that One Step Ahead have reached the penultimate stage of Got To Dance.
The girls - who live in the Wokingham and Crowthorne area and are aged 14-17 - have beaten thousands of rivals to reach the final 30 on the Sky One show, which has attracted more than one million viewers.
Mrs Coleman said: "It's fantastic. They're such a good bunch and they practise for about 20 hours a week.
"They can do all styles of dancing. There's the style we have done for the show [to The Prodigy track Spitfire] but they're proficient in ballet, tap, street dance."
The group - Katherine Patel, Lizzie Arcari, Katie Barker, Miranda Trevithick, Amy Woollard, and Harriet Crawford - impressed the three-strong judging panel in their audition last month.
Judge Kimberly Wyatt said: "There's such a great connection to you as a group and the music - you just bring the music to life."
They will now dance alongside five other competiors in one of five live semi-finals on Sunday March 3. Two acts will be voted through to the final, with the eventual winners scooping a £250,000 jackpot.
Mrs Coleman said: "I would like to think they could get through to the final. We're going to work to try and get there.
"They work so hard because they're in about 25 other shows as well and they have to practice for Got To Dance in breaks between other rehearsals.
"It's very much down to the public vote.
"It's not really like a competition with a clear winner, because people who like a certain style of dance will vote for their favourite. Hopefully that will be the girls.
"Whatever happens I think they've won already in a way."
