A ONE-WAY system is operating in Denmark Street to keep motorists safe in Wokingham town centre.

Wokingham Borough Council has given notice that no vehicles can travel in a north-easterly direction along Denmark Street, between its junctions with Wellington Road and the access to the Denmark Street car park.

The road has been subject to heavy traffic since Broad Street was closed last Thursday as South East Water continues its mains replacement work.

The alternative route for vehicles wishing to access the Denmark Street car park is via Wellington Road, Station Road, Shute End, Rectory Road, Wiltshire Road and Peach Street.

The alternative route for drivers wishing to access Murdoch Road/Langborough Road and its surrounding roads is along Wellington Road, Station Road, Shute End, Rectory Road, Wiltshire Road, Peach Street and Easthampstead Road.

The restriction has started with immediate effect today (February 13), but will only be effective whilst the necessary signs are displayed.
