ANTHONY WHEATON has been acquitted of the murder of Gee Smith.

After the jury spent 15 hours deliberating, Mr Wheaton has been found not guilty of murder and not guilty of manslaughter.

Mr Wheaton was accused of stabbing Gee Smith at the property he lived in on Dart Close, Finchampstead, on November 24 2017.

He was found guilty of driving whilst disqualified, as he left the scene in his Range Rover.

During the two-and-a-half week trial Mr Wheaton admitted picking up a knife and brandishing it at Mr Smith in self defence after the amateur boxer ran into his home following a family dispute.

Mr Wheaton claimed that he picked up the knife in his kitchen as it was the first thing he could find, and stated he did not intentionally stab him.

The prosecution argued that Mr Wheaton had stabbed Mr Smith intentionally, and that Mr Wheaton had threatened to kill 'Gypsy Gee' earlier in the evening.
