A WHEELCHAIR basketball club turned into heroes for a long distance costume event.
The team from the Thames Valley Kings basketball club, including the mascot ‘Uncle Bob’, donned fancy dress costumes for the 5km push around Dorney Lake.
The team, which plays their matches at St Crispins Leisure Centre, Wokingham, dressed as superheroes for the event, the NPower Winter Wonderwheels, which is the UK’s first festive disability sports event.
Club Captain Wayne Burton (dressed as Spiderman) said: “A great day all around, it was such good fun today completing 5k and I even got to dress up as a superhero I’ve been a massive fan of since a young age!”
The Kings team were also selected as a finalist in the ‘Best Costume’ competition, which was judged by two-time Paralympic gold medallist and recent Strictly Come Dancing star, Jonnie Peacock.
