A ROAD between Arborfield Green and Finchampstead will be the first in Wokingham Borough to be designated as a 'Greenway'
A 'Greenway' is an alternative route for pedestrians, cyclists and other users, but will not have road traffic.
The path will be made of a new permeable, all weather surface made from a mix of gravel and recycled car tyres.
The new path will be opened by the mayor on Saturday December 2 at 1:30pm by the Mayor of Wokingham Borough.
The path will link between the new Arborfield Green development and Finchampstead, via California Country Park.
Wokingham Borough Council’s executive member for environment, Cllr Norman Jorgensen said: “I’m delighted that the first of our greenways has now opened. These greenways provide a genuinely attractive alternative to cars for getting around.
"It’s great that our first will be accessible for so many different users – all while providing new designated commuter routes to get people to where they work and go to school and improving their health and wellbeing.”
