CRIME hit a spike in the town last week, with nine incidents reported to police in the space of five days.

Police have released the figures in the hope it will encourage homeowners owners to be more safe with their property.

On October 19 on Pattern Ash Drive, someone smashed through the front window of a house to break in and stole jewellery and keys.

One day later on Woodrow Drive, a back gate was broken into, before tools were stolen from a garage and used to jemmy the patio doors open, where a watch and cash were stolen.

A car left unlocked overnight on Oaklands Drive on 20/21 October was broken into, and £1 coins left in the vehicle for parking were stolen from the inside.

Police have advised residents to call 101 if they hear something suspicious.
