THE GIG HOUSE in Wokingham is one of the most popular drinking spots in the town, but as of next year, it will be no more.
Wetherspoon has decided to pull out of Wokingham, and the Gig House will be handed back to the landlord in a year's time.
With the location close to Wokingham station, Gig was frequently used as a drinking spot before heading into Reading for nightclubbing, as well as having Spin Bar opposite.
The Gig House was always known as an evening drinking house, but during the day doubled as a traditional Wetherspoon restaurant.
The facility is now available to let from September 2018 as a restaurant/bar.
Wetherspoon released the following statement:
“ Wetherspoon has served a break notice with the landlord.
“The pub will be handed back to the landlord in September 2018.
“At present there is no confirmed date of closure.
“There will be no redundancies as all staff will remain with Wetherspoon.”
