OUTGOING Forest School headteacher Mary Sandell saw her beaming students achieve fantastic results on her last day in the school.

Mrs Sandell will be officially resigning on August 31 due to lack of funding, but oversaw one final GCSE results day.

Students at the Wokingham school beat the national average in the first year of the new GCSE system.

Mark Jordan, head of year 11, said: "I'm very proud of the boys and their achievements.

"I'd like to thank the teachers and the parents for the continued support during the GCSE process, and it's just nice to see so many of them have positive options open to them because of the hard work they've put in.

"We wish them luck with everything they do, and hopefully see lots of them back here.

"There have been very rigorous changes. The boys put in an awful lot of work.

"The boys have stood up and taken that challenge head on. I'm really impressed with how they've gone about things."
