A Wokingham businessman is hoping for a charity knockout next month when he competes in a white collar boxing match.

James Jeffrey of Apollo Blinds is hoping to raise money for Cancer Research UK by participating in an Ultra White Collar Boxing bout in Staffordshire.

The keep hatch resident recently took up boxing and will manage his training time around his job as a blinds salesman and his two young children.

Mr Jeffrey said he signed up for the bout so he could have a fundraising goal as well as maintaining fitness and training.

He said: “I’m up for a challenge and I came across Ultra White Collar Boxing, and I love the fact that they combine getting fit and raising money for charity.

“In 2015 alone, Ultra White Collar Boxing raised nearly £9m for Cancer Research because it attracts novices like me and puts them through an intensive training programme – including access to a personal boxing trainer.

“I’ve been telling all my customers, and they are all being very supportive. With help from friends, family and well-wishers, I’m on course to beat the £300 target I set myself.

"When you add that to the money raised by the other people taking part on the night, there’ll be thousands raised for a very worthy cause.”
