Residents rage at council for not reducing speed limit after another car accident in Wokingham.

The incident occured Friday 23 on Reading Road, on the crossroads of where New Mill Road and Park Lane meet.

Angela Bennett, 59, who lives on Reading Road, explained seeing a mini end up in the ditch after going off the road.

She said: "We have just had another nasty accident on a junction which is notorious for having accidents, but apparently nothing is being done about it.

"The speed limit is 40 but it should be 30. We regularly have cars shooting along the road doing 55mph. There should be a speed camera to deter people.

"One of my neighbours, who has lived here for 10 years, says there has been a fatality on this stretch of road.

"What will it take? How many people will have to die before they do something about it?

"The police have just this minute turned up and even with the emergency services around, members of the public are directing traffic without hi-vis vests on.

"I have lived here for the last 18 months with my husband and as soon as we moved in we realised it was a problem.

"You take your life into your hands when you back out onto the road from your driveway.

"The last accident was a Renualt Clio being driven by a woman with a small child. She was going so fast she managed to collide with a transit van and it was the van that ended up upside down.

"Something has to be done. It is only a matter of time before something else happens."

A member of Wokingham Borough Council was unavailable for comment.
