A NEW primary school has officially opened its doors with a grand ceremony.

Floreat Montague Park Primary School celebrated the opening of its brand new facility with an official launch event attended by staff, pupils and families.

The school, located at the London Road development, was one of the facilities housebuilder David Wilson Homes contributed to when building new homes on the site.

Kate Harper-Cole, head teacher at Floreat Montague Park Primary School, said: “It was an honour to welcome so many parents, families and members of the local community to visit our brand new school.

“The day was such a success due to the commitment of our PTA group; ‘Friends of Floreat Montague Park’, who organised craft stalls, sports activities and even choir and circus performances.

“We look forward to watching our school grow over the next few years and hope to become a hub for the local community. We have a few spaces left for Year 1, Reception and Nursery for September 2017 and would be delighted to run tours for any interested families.”

The new learning space will provide modern, inspiring and flexible spaces to its pupils, catering for children from reception age up to Year 6.

Since the school opened from a temporary cabin in September, before the opening of the new facility, David Wilson Homes has continually supported the pupils, including donating high visibility vests in winter to keep the pupils safe in the dark.

Neil Douglas, Sales Manager at David Wilson Homes Southern said: “We are delighted to see the local primary school at Montague Park have settled into their new facility.

“As a five star homebuilder we not only care about building quality homes, but ensuring the wider area is a fantastic place to live and this school is in a great location for our residents to benefit from.

“A number of our residents already living at the development have children attending the primary school and it is great for new residents and growing families to know that they can also benefit from this facility.”
