A POLICE officer will face a misconduct hearing over allegations he used 'disproportionate force' when dealing with a teenage boy.

PC Peter Crimmins is alleged to have breached Thames Valley Police's standards of professional behaviour following an incident on June 17 last year.

At around 9.30pm, PC Crimmins was deployed to Howard Palmer Gardens in Wokingham, by Special Constable Roy Egarr, following reports of youths behaving anti-socially, behind two PCSOs who were already on the scene.

He is then said to have approached the teenagers and observe one of them, Witness A - who was 15 at the time - move away from the group and take a call on his mobile.

He is then alleged to have put his arm out to direct him back to the group and push him with his arm across his chest.

It is claimed Witness A then said to the person on the other end of the phone, words to the effect of: 'This guy’s being a k***'.

PC Crimmins allegedly responded by grabbing Witness A by the neck, replying with 'A k*** yeah?' and then pushed him backwards with his hand around his neck, until the teenager smacked his hand and PC Crimmins let go.

After the incident, PC Crimmins failed to fill in a 'use of force' form or make any other record of using force, until he was advised to do so by PS O’Brien the following day.

The hearing is scheduled to take place at the force's Kidlington headquarters between April 19 and 21.
