A SPECIAL screening of a documentary will see cinema guests serenaded by a choir, writes Bethen Hughes.

Tomorrow Reading's Showcase Cinema will screen Who's Gonna Love me Now?, the story of an Israeli man exiled from his community trying to reconnect with his family.

The documentary tells the tale of Saar Maoz who was expelled from his religious kibbutz at the age of 21, taking refuge in the UK.

There he created a new family with the London Gay Men's Chorus and before reaching out to his old family in the hope of reconciliation 19 years later.

The Reading Phoenix Choir will perform an a cappella performance in honour of The London Gay Men's Chorus.

James Dobbin, Director of Event Cinema at Showcase Cinemas, says: “Who’s Gonna Love Me Now? is a powerful documentary and we’re working with an incredible local choir to celebrate it with an equally inspiring a cappella performance.

"We’re delighted that we can offer documentaries like this for our guests to enjoy on the big screen."

Recently awarded the Audience Award for Best Documentary at the 2016 Berlin Film Festival, Who's Gonna Love Me Now? is the latest documentary from acclaimed film-makers Tomer and Barak Heymann.

The special preview screening will be followed by a Q&A session with the film's directors and star. A performance by the London Gay Men's Chorus will be broadcast live from London's Barbican Centre.

Tickets are available for purchase on the Showcase Cinemas website.
