MONTHS after drivers should have been using the new Shinfield Eastern Relief Road they are being warned of further delays as the beleaguered project is finished.
The A327 bridge over the M4 will close for five nights as contractors resurface the new road.
From Monday, April 3, to Wednesday, April 5, the Shinfield Road will be closed northbound between 9pm and 6am. Drivers will be sent on a five mile diversion via Hollow Lane, Hyde End Road, Basingstoke Road and Whitely Wood Lane.
The next two nights the road will be closed completely. On Friday the closure will not begin until midnight.
Contractors will be resurfacing the road and painting new lines.
Pedestrians, cyclists and emergency services will have access to the road throughout.
Overnight work will continue over the weekend of April 8 and 9. Lanes will be closed around Lane End farm junction with two-way traffic lights set up on Arborfield Road.
Hochtief contractors will work on the kerbside during these final closures.
