IMPROVEMENTS will be coming to the car park at California Country Park in Finchampstead.

The new space will have space for more cars, and allow easier access to the park.

There will also be an improved access road, which will be widened to allow for two-way traffic. It has been designed to ensure vehicles drive slowly and safely.

The country park is located within close proximity of the major development in Arborfield and usage of the park is expected to increase as a result.

The proposals form part of wider improvements, delivered in phases, that would also include an improved café, with a new all-weather outdoor seating area to encourage an evening café culture, as well as new signs and information boards around the country park.

Cllr Parry Batth, deputy executive member for environment, said: “California Country Park means many things to many people; it’s a place for walking, playing or simply enjoying the peace and quiet.

“But we believe it can be made better, so we are planning a series of improvements to open up the park for more visitors and make even better use of this delightful space, both during the day and evening.”

Works on the car park will start this autumn and should be completed by spring, 2018.
