A FRAUDSTER who conned millions from the estate agent he worked for in Wokingham has had his pension seized to try and recoup his gains.

Deceitful Julian Kremer cooked the books and forged emails at agents Richard Worth Limited in a five-year period to fund his degenerative gambling, leaving colleagues unpaid.

The 49-year-old, of Roborough Avenue, Plymouth, admitted to one count of theft at Reading Magistrates' Court on January 15 2015 and was convicted at Reading Crown Court on March 6 the same year.

He was sentenced to five years behind bars for his £1.98m scam, later reduced to four years and four months' imprisonment by the Court of Appeal on September 10, 2015.

Now 51, Kremer has had more than £100,000 seized to try and repay his victims.

At a hearing at Reading Crown Court on December 1 and 2, he was given a confiscation order totalling £13,045.79 and ordered to hand over his £98,000 pension.

The money, which will go towards compensating his victims, must be paid within three months or Kremer will serve a further seven months in prison.

“The current proceedings may not recompense the victims to the full extent of their loss,” said financial investigator, Steve Tedder, of the asset recovery team.

“But they will strip Kremer of the opportunity of enjoying anything he stole.”

He added: “This was a serious and complex case perpetuated by an intelligent man with a gambling addiction who used his accountancy skills to be able to hide his crimes for a significant time.

“The result should send a message which reassures our communities in the Thames Valley of our commitment to making sure crime does not pay.”
