IT was another successful year for The Emmbrook School, where 74 per cent of students achieved A*-C GCSE passes in English and maths and 46 per cent of students received at least one A*-A grade.

One in five results were at least A grade and around a quarter of those reached A*.

There was significant success in a wide range of subjects, with over a quarter of all passes at A*-A grade in maths, further maths, the three sciences, computing and IT, art, business studies, drama, history, music and Spanish.

Pupils of all ability groups made progress above the national average, as The Emmbrook's Progress 8 score shows.

This new Government benchmark, by which all schools are measured, shows pupils at the Wokingham venue progressed a quarter of a grade better per student in each subject when compared nationally.

Nick McSweeney, deputy headteacher, praised what he described as a fantastic set of results.

He said: "These grades are a credit to the students and staff who worked so hard to achieve them.

"The most pleasing aspect of them is that they demonstrate that students of all abilities make excellent progress at The Emmbrook."
