BELEAGUERED residents blighted by persistent flooding in a Wokingham road, have been granted relief thanks to two local councillors.

Flooding issues in Emmbrook Road, which regularly saw underneath the railway bridge submerged under water, have been resolved after the efforts of borough councillor UllaKarin Clark and town councillor, Sanjay Odedra.

The pair put pressure on Thames Water to carry out a full clean of the sewer and a sewer root to prevent future flooding and despite recent heavy rain, the road has so far, remained dry.

Cllr Clark said: "After months of significant flooding problems on Emmbrook Road by the railway bridge, progress has been made to resolve the issue. We are grateful to Thames Water for responding to our calls to address the problem.

"Both Cllr Odedra and I will closely observe the situation, and we would urge residents to get in touch with us as soon as possible should the problem return.

"It is an enormous problem that has been going on for years, when it flooded it meant no one could go under the bridge as their car would get stuck.

"We have been trying to establish whose responsibility it was and then as soon as we did we said something has to be done about this.

"It has taken us several years to get something done and we were happy that something finally has been done about it."
