A BUILDER has appeared in court after charged with carrying out shoddy work in Wokingham and Reading.

Neil Harvey Jackson, of no fixed abode, appeared in Reading Magistrates' Court on Friday, February 19 charged with illegal practices across the two boroughs.

The 48-year-old was charged with one count of knowingly or recklessly engaging in a commercial practice which contravenes the requirements of professional diligence, one count of a trader engaging in a commercial practice which was aggressive and one count of fraud by false representation.

These relate to repairs carried out to a porch on a house in Sussex Lane, Spencers wood in February last year.

The nine other counts relate to incidents between November 17 last year and January 18 2016.

They include one count of dishonestly failing to disclose information to make a gain for self or expose others to loss, by failing to provide homeowners with information regarding their right to cancel a contract.

The eight other counts are of a trader knowingly or recklessly engaging in a commercial practice which contravenes the requirements of professional diligence.

Jackson was remanded in custody to appear before Reading Crown Court on March 22.
