IT COULD be a record breaking year as 3,000 runners pound the streets round Wokingham

The race gets underway at Cantely Park, and could see both the men's and women's track record broken by a host of talented runners.

Peter Evans, chairman of the Wokingham Half marathon Committee, said: "Once again the race has attracted many elite runners from all over the country.

"We have six men running under 64 minutes and about four women under 73 minutes. The men's record is 63 and the women's is one hour 11.

"We could break the course record if conditions are good. There is a £500 cash prize for breaking the course record together with smaller cash prizes for the first three in the men and ladies race.

"The category winners together with the normal trophies. All finishers will receive a medal."

The men's record holder Phil Wicks will be part of the race.

The race gets underway at 10am on Sunday, February 21 and best places to catch the action are at the junction of Forest Road and Warren House Road at around 10.05am and the ends of Darvills Lane which the runners should approach at 10.15.
