A CANCER survivor who featured in the launch of a Marks and Spencer's charity campaign is holding a fundraising catwalk event in Wokingham this Sunday.

Sharon Jhheent has raised more than £12,000 for charity Breast Cancer Now in just one year after her own battle with the disease and was one of the 'magnificent seven' chosen to feature in the exclusive launch of a new range of underwear at the national store.

She is continuing her fundraising with a 'pink catwalk' and balloon release in Wokingham on Sunday afternoon.

The range, designed by model and actress Rosie Huntingdon-Whitely, includes a post-surgery bra for women who have undergone a mastectomy and 45-year-old Sharon said it was 'daunting' when she had to shed her dressing gown for the photo shoot in aid of Marks and Spencer's 'Show your Strap' campaign.

Sharon said: "It was a bit daunting when they said 'now you need to try this underwear on' and then take off your dressing gown, particularly when you've got this beautiful, stunning model there as well but Rosie Huntingdon-Whitely was lovely and all of the shoot team couldn't do enough for us and we're really positive.

"It was a lovely experience and the point about the whole thing is we have all been through breast cancer and we all have our own stories to tell."

Mum of two Sharon, now living in Woodley, was diagnosed with breast cancer in October 2013 and underwent chemotherapy, radiotherapy and a mastectomy to fight the disease.

Now recovered, she says the worry of it reoccurring never quite leaves her.

She said: "I'm clear at the moment but the chance of it reoccurring is always something you are aware of. My family were so supportive, they were my rock throughout it all."

Another of the models was 23-year-old Rachel Cholerton from Reading who lost her mum to breast cancer aged just 18.

She said: "To me the Show Your Strap campaign is about raising that awareness and I think through this campaign is the best way to do it. I support anything that helps raise awareness and money for cancer charities."
