The lights will be in place at the junction between Shute End and Reading Road from Wednesday as the mini roundabout at the junction is removed.
A new pedestrian crossing and traffic island will be installed in its place. The lights will be manned from 7am-7pm.
The work is part of the final stages of the station link road scheme to prepare the junction between Station Road, Shute End and Reading Road for its new one-way configuration, where traffic will travel south along Station Road.
The temporary lights will stay in place until the scheme is finished early next month.
