Kate and John Lockhart met as students at Reading University and now share a studio at the Open Hand, Open Space facility at Brock Barracks.

Kate, whose work featured in an exhibition at Heathrow Terminal 5 when it first opened, is now working on nine new landscapes in acrylics for display at the show in April.

She said: “They are mainly places I’ve been visiting over the last year, whether for work or pleasure, such as St Ives and Wales, destinations that I’ve spent some time in.

“I would describe my work as realistic, but in my own style, taken from the original sketches. I try to keep the preciseness of the sketch I do in the studio and try and keep it as fresh as possible.” After graduating with a degree in fine art from Reading University John completed his masters there while Kate went on to the Royal College of Art in London.

One of her most celebrated works was a 14m, 360 degree panorama of London as painted from the top of the whispering gallery of St Paul’s Cathedral in London, a print of which can still be seen at Terminal 5.

She said: “John’s work is very different, using found objects. He creates sculptures and installations from objects that he finds. So people visiting our stand at the art fair will hopefully see two very different types of work.” l  The Reading Contemporary Art Fair runs from April 24 to 26.
