Five-year-old Millie-Angel Woodward-Brown scooped the ‘My Hero’ award at last year’s ceremony, after being nominated by her mum Katie Woodward.

The youngster reacted quickly after her mum collapsed following an epileptic seizure, continually phoning her grandmother for help after failing to get through the first time.

While on the phone she also took care of her brother George – only six months old at the time – while keeping her cool.

Her mum Katie said Millie-Angel wasn’t aware of the enormity of what she had done but now chooses to educate her friends at school in what to do in an emergency.

Ms Woodward added: “Millie was so excited just to get the nomination last year and be in the Bracknell News as she really did realise that what she had done was such an amazing thing!

“She used to keep saying ‘I just looked after my mummy and baby brother?’ but once she started hearing it more she became very proud and enjoyed either hearing about it or telling people about what she had done, how much of a big deal it was and what she had been rewarded with.

“It may have been a year ago but she still proves on a daily basis what a little hero she is just by how she is with her brother as he grows.” Nominations are now open for the annual event – organised by the Bracknell News, Bracknell Regeneration Partnership (BRP) and a host of other sponsors – for you to choose your heroes and community champions.

The deadline for nominations is Monday, March 23.

Judges will then shortlist nominations for the awards, and the successful nominees will receive an invitation for themselves and a guest to attend the presentation evening on Friday, April 17.
