Teachers, parents, and grandparents have all supported Fusion, which is in its second year.

The scheme encourages youngsters while in school and after school to learn more about their community in any way they can as well as developing increased confidence, leadership and team-building skills.

Various venues are chosen, and a special Fusion bus is on hand to transport staff.

Children in Years 6 and 7, (the 10-12 age group) enjoy sports such as rounders as well as a graffiti board, performing arts, cooking, crafts, and other activities either at school or during term breaks.

The aim is to help them in their transition from childhood to adolescence, say organisers. The scheme is unique to Bracknell and each session welcomes between 15 and 20 children.

One aim of the Fusion project is to help children move easily from primary to secondary education as well as becoming more involved in their neighbourhood.

The project welcomes 20 pupils per school, and everyone gets a special pack to explain the 10-week scheme.

At the end of their project, children receive certificates, medals or plaques and will be invited to an event.

Venues next week include: Tuesday, October 28 (1.30pm-3.30pm) Brownrigg Crescent, Bullbrook Drive, Bracknell; Wednesday, October 29 (1.30pm-3.30pm) The Spot car park, Owlsmoor; Thursday, October 30 (1.30pm-3.30pm) Scout Hut, Freeburn Way, Bullbrook; Friday, October 31 (1.30pm-3.30pm) Osprey Park, Jennett’s Park.
