Dolphin Nursery in Roundshill and Teddies Nursery in Forest Park together raised more than £1,000 for the Bright Horizons Foundation’s Bright Spaces scheme.

At Dolphin, the children took part in arty activities, cake sales and pyjama days and everyone enjoyed themselves, according to nursery manager Amy Teideman.

She said: “The week went really, really well. Because we’ve had different things going on every day the children have all been very excited, we’re not sure how to match up when it’s over.” There was something for the parents too, with the nursery offering breakfast bags to mums and dads dropping the little ones off in the morning. “The breakfasts went down really well,” Ms Teideman said: “We’ve had people asking us to do it every day.” Teddies Nursery also got in on the fundraising act. Youngsters were sponsored to take part in a dance-a-thon, pyjama day and bake sale and created mosaics of teddies using pennies.

Julie Stretton, the nursery’s manager, said: “It was a super week and everyone has really enjoyed themselves. Throughout the week it has been so well supported by all the families and they have all taken a keen interest in the foundation.” Both centres also took part in a penny drive, with the kids using the stacks of coins to make a mosaic of a teddy bear.

The Bright Horizons Foundation has nurseries across the country, and their Bright Spaces campaign transforms rooms in places such as prisons and hospitals into warm and comforting environments for children to go to.
