'Churchill' and 'Monty' to make appearance at pub's military day

CHARACTERS from the Second World War will be making an appearances tomorrow (Saturday) at a pub’s military day in aid of Help for Heroes.

Actors impersonating Winston Churchill and Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery will visit the event at the New Leathern Bottle in Jealott’s Hill, Warfield, from about 1pm. There will also be military vehicles on display, bands and a barbecue.

The event runs from noon till late, with no entrance fee but donations and proceeds will go to Help for Heroes to help injured service personnel.

A two-minute silence will be held at 2.15pm to remember two local veterans who recently died, Wally Harris and Tony Oliver.
