Stephen Gibson, of Burlington Avenue, Slough, forced entry into a property in Jocks Lane at about 8pm on Friday, May 23.

He attempted to steal high-value electrical items but witnesses challenged him before officers arrived on the scene.

On examination he was found to be in possession of a Class B drug and was taken into police custody. It was in custody Gibson assaulted a police officer.

He was then arrested and charged the following day.

Gibson appeared at Reading Crown Court on Monday, June 9, and pleaded guilty to one count of burglary dwelling, one count of assault and one count of being in possession of a Class B drug. He was jailed for three years.

Senior investigating officer detective constable Alex Hillan said: “This is an excellent result, Gibson committed three different types of crime on that night and the consequences of his actions are clear.

“Gibson’s victims should now feel a sense of justice, and this sentence should act as a strong deterrent to any potential offenders in Bracknell."
