Chance for residents to become a Sunningdale councillor as applications open

APPLICATIONS opened today (Thursday) for residents to nominate themselves as potential candidates for the upcoming Sunningdale by-election.

The window for nominations closes on Friday, January 10, at noon, in time for the Sunningdale Parish Council by-election on Thursday, February 6.

Cllr Christine Bateson, cabinet member for community partnerships and local planning, said: “Parish councillors can come from all backgrounds and their different experiences and expertise contribute to councils that are truly representative of the people they serve.”

Cllr David Burbage, council leader for the Royal Borough, added: “The Big Society is all about empowering residents and getting them involved in decision-making right at the heart of the community.”

Nomination packs and candidate guidance can also be picked up at the council’s election office on weekdays between 9am-5pm.
