Residents and motorists will benefit from the Royal Borough’s flood prevention scheme, which will cover everything from silt clearing to road drainage and ditch cleaning.
New grills will be installed by March at the watercourse in Oliver Road, Ascot, to enable the safe clearance of debris from the mouth of large culverts during times of flooding.
A site investigation in Upper Village Road, Sunninghill, will be carried out by March, and a drainage scheme will be implemented either next year or 2015 subject to funding.
Cllr Carwyn Cox, cabinet member for environmental services, said: “While flood risk from the River Thames tends to grab the headlines during very wet spells there are other places in the borough with their own issues – and the council is determined to tackle them so that local people are protected from the misery that flooding can cause.”
