All cones have been removed from the road, four days ahead of schedule, to the jubilation of motorists.
The council confirmed that work had been completed at 5am this (Friday) morning, and the road was back to its usual capacity.
This couldn't have soon enough for commuters, who had to endure hours of tailbacks and delays, coupled with a lack of information when the works began.
This was phase one of the works, and phase two, to bring the road up to government safety regulations, which will begin early January and last until March.
