The section being resurfaced is from 150m north of the Acacia Avenue roundabout to 40m south of the Evenlode Way roundabout. The Evenlode Way roundabout itself will be closed during the off-peak period on Monday and Tuesday for resurfacing but reopened as soon as possible to allow traffic to use Owlsmoor Road as a shortcut.
There will be a signed diversion route in place via Foresters Way, Nine Mile Ride, A322 Bagshot Road, Bracknell Road, A30 London Road and Marshall Road. Access for residents will be made as easy as possible.
Cllr Chris Turrell, Bracknell Forest Council’s executive member for planning and transport, said: “There is never a good time to do such works on busy major roads but the road structure is beginning to fail and if we don’t do the work now, particularly before the coming winter, we will end up with a much larger job, and even longer closures and greater disruption.”
Meanwhile, a new road to help alleviate the impact of construction traffic in Crowthorne when building work on the new Broadmoor Hospital begins has been completed. The new road off the A3095 was completed last week on time, in 26 weeks.
Once the new high-security psychiatric hospital has opened in 2017, to replace the existing Victorian buildings, the road will become the primary access route for staff and visitors, to help avoid congestion in Crowthorne.
Contractor Balfour Beatty is now laying tarmac, due to be completed in December, when construction – and associated traffic to the site – will start.
