Bracknell Forest Careers Event will be bigger and better

This year’s free Bracknell Forest Careers Event is bigger and better than ever – with more than 85 exhibitors already signed up to the event on Thursday, October 10.
It aims to bring together employers, training providers and voluntary organisations offering jobs, ideas, support and advice to anyone looking for work.
There will be advice on how to put together a stand-out CV and polish up interview techniques, and it is expected that employers with ‘live’ vacancies will be present.
Year 11 pupils from the borough’s secondary schools will be visiting the careers event, held at the Capitol Building on the Southern Industrial Area in Bracknell, between 9.30am and 3pm. The event then opens to everyone from 3.30pm to 7.30pm.
Cllr Marc Brunel-Walker, Bracknell Forest Council’s executive member for economic development and regeneration, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for students and parents to understand the different career and training opportunities that are out there."
Among the varied exhibitors taking part are British Airways, Scottish & Southern Electricity, Wyevale garden centres, the Royal Navy and Marines, colleges, universities and St John Ambulance.
There will also be demonstrations by students at Bracknell and Wokingham College including hair and beauty, cabin crew and electrical installation.
The event has been put together by the Bracknell Forest Partnership – comprising the council, police, the fire service and the NHS – plus Learning to Work, which aims to link education and business, and sponsors.
The News’s parent company, Berkshire Media Group, has developed the event’s website.
Cllr Brunel-Walker said: “If you are looking for a job, come down and visit the event – you can sign up for free sessions to update and polish CVs or to
practise your interview technique. I hope that as many of our residents as possible will take advantage of the vast pool of information, ideas, advice that will be available.”
