Ella Passell, eight, has been named as one of 140 regional winners – and only one of 13 in the South East – in the Royal Mail’s Christmas stamp competition, beating off about 240,000 other entrants.
Judges will choose who goes through to the national finals, where two designs will be chosen by the Prince Of Wales to appear on first and second class stamps.
Ella, a pupil at The Marist Preparatory School, has already bagged herself £100 and £100 for her school. Only twice before in the Royal Mail’s history have the Christmas stamps been designed by children – in 1966 and 1981.
The stamps will be on sale from November 5.
