Evendons Free School will open on the site of the former Whitehouse School in September 2014, the first Free school in the area.
Helen Thorndyke, one of the founding parents, said: “The prospect of finding a new headteacher is very exciting.
“It’s a very important position – as a parent it’s the most important – an exciting opportunity for the right person to build the school up from scratch.”
The salary bracket advertised for the headteacher is £51,614-£70,991.
Ms Thorndyke’s three- year-old daughter Charlotte will be among the first pupils at the school, which parents are setting up to help ease pressure on primary places.
The school will focus on STEM subjects -science, technology, engineering and mathematics - as well as the National Curriculum. It will open with two 25-pupil classes, for ages four to six, and will have a catchment area of up to 1.5 miles from the school gate.
Parents’ application for the school to open was approved by the Department of Education earlier this year. The education provider will be the CfBT Schools Trust.
Jayne Soanes, Free School programme manager for CfBT Schools Trust, said: “The parents behind Evendons are passionate and committed to opening a school which will not only meet local demand for places but will offer first-class education.”
