A PRESTIGIOUS boat race has changed venue due to high stream conditions.
This Sunday's Henley Boat Race has been moved to Olympic rowing and kayaking venue Dorney Lake due to conditions on Henley Reach.
The decision was taken at around midday today.
Four-time Olympic rowing gold medalist Matthew Pinsent tweeted that the decision was sensible given the river at Henley Reach is on red boards, the towpath is submerged and wind is forecast for Sunday.
A tweet from the official Henley Boat Races account said: "It wouldn't be safe to run the race in these conditions."
The event will be open to the public as normal, and should return to Henley next year. The race programme will start at 1.15pm as planned, with the schedule remaining the same.
The boat races pit crews from Oxford and Cambridge Universities against each other.
